The port of Trieste is positioned as a critical logistics node for the reconstruction of Ukraine, according to a new analysis of Italy's industrial periphery risk published this week.
The analysis, carried by debuglies.com, argues that the decisive period for Italy's involvement is 2026–2028, and calls for a permanent reconstruction platform linking government, ports, rail operators, manufacturers, SACE, SIMEST, CDP, banks and insurers.
By 2027, the report states, Trieste should operate scheduled eastern services, with Venice and Ravenna serving dedicated industrial and cargo terminals.
