Sòphia High Tech, backed by the Milan-based biotech firm Genenta, has manufactured robotic units called ROMAN for the remote inspection and maintenance of the RFX-mod2 fusion experiment, according to a report in the Manila Times. The robotic arms combine Sòphia's precision manufacturing capabilities with robotics expertise from the University of Naples Federico II and Herobots, extending the group's engineering reach into the nuclear sector. The project signals a broadening of Lombardy's advanced-manufacturing base beyond fashion and design into high-tech industrial applications.
